Title

Be it ordained by the Malden City Council that the Code of the City of Malden (MCC) Title 9, Chapter 20, Section 030 STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL WASTE be hereby amended by adding section K. All non-owner-occupied properties with 3 units or more must install year-round rodent control measures in proximity to the trash storage area to prevent rodent activity.

Body

Whereas, residents of Malden have been reporting observations of rodents to the City as well as regular non-compliance with the City ordinance related to placing trash and recycling in covered bins;

Whereas, in the judgment of the City Council, non-compliance issues appear to be greater at non-owner-occupied multi-tenant residential buildings utilizing city provided trash and recycling pickup bins;

Whereas, storage of trash and recycling in uncovered bins or out of bins entirely creates potential food sources for rodents.

Therefore, be it ordained by the Malden City Council that the Code of the City of Malden (MCC) Title 9, Chapter 20, Section 030 STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL WASTE be hereby amended by adding section K and to read as follows:

9.20.030 Standards and Regulations for Residential Waste

K.  All non-owner-occupied properties with 3 units or more must install year-round rodent control measures in proximity to the trash storage area to prevent rodent activity.
