Title: Resolved: That it is the sense of the Malden City Council that, following a similar endorsement by the Malden School Committee, it supports the passage of Question 2 to eliminate the MCAS test high school graduation requirement. Instead, the question would replace this with a requirement that districts certify that students have satisfactorily completed coursework demonstrating mastery of the skills and knowledge required by the Commonwealth's strong, statewide standards in order to graduate. This endorsement reflects the Council's commitment to excellent schools, equity, and the mental wellbeing of our students.
