Be it ordained by the Malden City Council that the Code of the City of Malden (MCC) Title 2, Chapter 16, Section 100 B. HUMAN RIGHTS AND FAIR HOUSING COMMISSION be hereby amended to address the composition of said Commission by the following:

Body

Proposed Revisions to MCC 2.16.100 (B):

B.                     The Commission shall be composed of seven members, three of whom shall be- appointed by the Mayor and four of whom shall be appointed by the City Council. The composition shall be as follows: The Mayor shall appoint

1.                     A representative of the Malden Housing Authority who shall serve until their successor is appointed; and

2.                     A Malden-based (residency or business based) representative of the National Association of Realtors, who shall serve until their successor is appointed and qualified. The Member must maintain NAR membership during the term of their appointment and have a current real estate license in good standing;

3.                     one Three Malden residents at large, preferably an attorney, who shall serve until their successors have been appointed. for one year from the date of appointment. The City Council shall appoint a representative of the Chamber of Commerce, a representative of a Malden-based disability advocacy organization,

4.                     A licensed attorney that is either a resident of the city of Malden or working at a Malden based organization and shall serve until their successor has been appointed;

5.                     A representative of a Malden-based organization providing services to elderly people, who shall serve until their successors are appointed and qualified,

Members may be removed, with or without cause, in the same manner in which they were appointed.
