Order: That the City submits to the Massachusetts Legislature for passage an Act Increasing the Maximum Age Requirement for Retired Malden Police Officers for Appointment as Special Police Officers in the City of Malden.

AN ACT INCREASING THE MAXIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT FOR RETIRED MALDEN POLICE OFFICERS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS IN THE CITY OF MALDEN.

 

Be it hereby resolved by the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Malden that the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts enact legislation to change the maximum age of eligibility of a retired Malden Police officer for appointment to the position of Special Police Officer in the City of Malden from the present maximum of sixty-five (65) years of age to seventy (70) years of age provided, that the Legislature may reasonably vary the form and substance of the requested legislation within the scope of the general public objectives of this petition.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 1 of Chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, including the provisions of Chapter 17 of the Acts of 2018, the maximum age of eligibility for a retired Malden Police Officer to be appointed to the position of Special Police Officers in the City of Malden shall be seventy (70) years of age.

 

SECTION 2. All other provisions of Chapter 17 of the Acts of 2018 shall remain in full force and effect.

 

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
