Be it Ordained that the Revised Ordinances of 1991 be amended relative to the Department of Water Utilities and the Municipal Hearing Officer

Be it hereby ordained by the Malden City Council that the Revised Ordinances of 1991 as most recently amended be and the same are hereby further amended as follows:

 

1.-by striking out Section 11.2.1 as it presently exists and inserting in place thereof the following new Section 11.2.1:

SECTION 11.21.                     DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR WATERWORKS

The Director of Public Works shall have executive and administrative oversight of waterworks and shall be charged with providing for the repair, maintenance and extension of municipal water, sewer and drainage systems.  The Director shall hire such subordinates and assistants as may be provided for by appropriation and shall have all powers, duties and authority incidental to providing a supply of pure water for the use of residents of the city and shall establish rules and regulations for connection to municipal water, sewer and drainage systems and shall provide for the means of assessing charges for the use thereof.

 

2.-by striking out the words “Director of Water Utilities” as appearing in Sections 11.3, 11.4. 11.7, 11.8, 11.9, 11.11, 11.12, 11.13,11.16, 11.61, 11.62, 11.63, 11.64, 11.65. 11.66, 11.67, 11.68 and 11.69 and inserting in place thereof the words “Director of Public Works”

 

3.-by striking out the words “The Director of Water Utilities” as appearing in Section 11.15.

 

4.-by striking out the first sentence of Section 2.29 and inserting in place thereof the following: “The Municipal Hearing Officer shall be appointed by the City Council and shall work under the administrative supervision of the City Solicitor.”
