Mayor’s Appointment: Sylvia Banos, 4 Pearl St., Stoneham, MA as Senior Center Director

Dear Members of the Council:
Pursuant to the provisions of law, I hereby appoint Sylvia Banos, 4 Pearl St., Stoneham, MA, as Director of the Malden Senior Center, said term to expire on March 1, 2017.
A five member panel undertook the interview process and when the two month process was complete they unanimously recommended Sylvia for the appointment. City Council President Neal Anderson, Human Resources Director Eleanor Cushing, Mass Senior Action Council (MSAC) Community Organizer Pam Edward, MSAC Member Ken Goldstein, and Community Outreach Coordinator Karen Haves made up the interview panel. Sylvia will bring over 21 years of program planning and management skills to the Senior Center. Further, she has experience working with culturally diverse communities during her career. I believe she will be a good fit and an asset to the Malden Senior Center.
