Committee Report: Ordinance (Paper #403 That the City submit to the legislature for passage An Act Amending the composition of the Stadium and Athletic Field Commission)
The Standing Committee on Ordinance, to whom was referred Paper #403 Series of 2014 having considered the same make the following report:
Committee recommends that this paper be reported favorably with the following amendment: that the language of section 1 be stricken and the following inserted in place thereof:
Section1. There is hereby established in the City of Malden a commission to be known as the Stadium and Athletic Field Commission, which shall consist of the Mayor or his designee, the High School Principal, the High School Director of Athletics, the Recreation Coordinator, and two residents appointed by the City Council and one resident appointed by the Mayor, for a term of three years. To the extent practicable, the member appointed by the Mayor will be a resident of the area surrounding the Stadium. In the making of initial appointments hereunder, the Mayoral appointee shall be appointed for a term of one year, one Council appointee shall be appointed for the term of two years and one Council appointee shall be appointed for the term of three years. Upon the expiration of the term of an appointed member, his successor shall be appointed for a term of three years. Upon passage of this act and annually thereafter, the Commission shall organize by choice of a Chairman and Clerk, both of whom shall be members of the Commission.
