Mayor’s Appointment: Anthony Chiccuarelli, 22 Wesmur Rd. as Director of Human Resources (Term Exp: 3/1/2018)

Dear Members of the Council:
Pursuant to the City of Malden Ordinances, I am pleased to submit for your confirmation Anthony Chiccuarelli, of 22 Wesmur Road, Malden, to fill the current opening as Director of Human Resources, said term to expire March 1, 2018.
Mr. Chiccuarelli was selected from a pool of over thirty candidates that initially applied for the position. A five member panel conducted interviews and subsequently second interviews with two finalists. Mr. Chiccuarelli was recommended as he clearly possesses a strong background in Human Resources and demonstrates the right combination of management and municipal experience. In fact, he formerly held this exact position from July, 1998 to April, 2005. During that time, he helped implement many of the policies and programs currently in place, including the Employee Handbook and the Catastrophic Leave Bank for non-union employees.
I believe Mr. Chiccuarelli’s abilities and knowledge perfectly align with what is needed to successfully direct this department. Additionally, he was raised in Malden, lives here with his family and is active in the community. I respectfully request that you confirm this appointment. Thank you.
