Ordinance Committee Report: Paper #17/14
The Standing Committee on Ordinance to whom was referred Paper #17 Series of 2014 having considered the same make the following report: Committee recommends that the following ordinance be enacted:
Be it hereby ordained by the Malden City Council that Section 3.35 of the Revised Ordinances of 1991 as amended be and the same are hereby further amended as follows:
-by adding to Section 3.35.5 (Prohibited Signs), the following new section:
.11 A-frame or T-frame portable signs, except as permitted under Section 3.35.11.
-by striking out Section 3.35.11 as it currently exists and inserting in place thereof the following new section 3.35.11:
.11 REGULATION OF PORTABLE SIGNS
The Sign Design Review Committee may issue annual permits for portable signs only to those businesses which, in the ordinary course of their affairs, temporarily conduct business at locations which are not their principle place of business.
A portable sign permitted under this section shall meet the following minimum requirements:
.1 Portable signs shall be either A-frame or T-frame;
.2 No portable sign shall exceed 6 square feet per sign face nor contain more than two sign faces;
.3 Portable signs shall be removed within one hour of the conclusion of the event to which they relate.
