Ordered: That the City of Malden prioritize the replacement of lead service lines above all other non-emergency infrastructure projects in order to address the 2006 Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection consent order, and subsequent DEP findings of elevated lead levels in drinking water across the city.
Ordered: That the following funds be redirected from cosmetic sidewalk and road resurfacing projects to the replacement of lead service lines:
-Existing $4,000,000 Bond from the Water and Sewer Enterprise Fund
-Existing $450,000 from FY17 Chapter 90 Funds
-$850,000 fro FY18 Chapter 90 Funds
-2,000,000 from 108 Loan from FY18 Community Development Black Grant
TOTAL FUNDING: $7,300,000
