Committee Report: Ordinance (Paper #388-17) Be it ordained that Chapter 8 of the R.O. of 1991 be amended relative to Sick, Personal, Bereavement and Parental Leave.

Motion to amend as follows: Section 8.11F, strike line 1 & 2, add Persons employed on permanent part-time basis who work a regular schedule of (20) hours or more per week shall accrue a prorated portion of sick leave. Section 8.14 strike in the heading DAY and strike second sentence. Insert new employees hired between January 1 and may 31 are granted (3) personal days in the 1st year. New employees hired between June 1 and October 31 are granted (2) personal days in their 1st year; new employees hired between November 1 and December 15 are granted (1) personal day in their first year. New employees hired after December 15 are not entitled to any personal time for the remainder of the calander year. Remainder of the sentence to remain the same. New sentence added; Person/s employed on a permanent part-time basis who work a regular schedule of (20) hours or more per week shall be granted a prorated portion of personal leave. Section 8.15 first line strike (4) days and insert (5) day. Line two insert Step-child, Step-parent, step-in laws and step-grandparents. At the end of line four add (1) day of Bereavment leave may be granted for any other family member, for all other situations, funeral time may be granted. Section 8.18 strike in the heading MATERNIITY AND ADOPTED LEAVE, and insert PARENTAL LEAVE. The newly amended section shall now read as follows Upon completion of a probationary period of (6) months employment, Parential leave without pay shall be granted to any employee for (8) weeks in connection with the birth, adoption or court ordered placement of a child providing that the request for said leave is made in writing to the department head at least (2) weeks prioer to such leave.
