20-23 1  ResolutionResolve: Be it hereby resolved that the Malden City Council hereby expresses its concern that the indiscriminate use of "Second Generation Anticougulant Rodenticides" (SGARs) has resulted in the secondary exposure in Malden to both domestic pets as well as non-target wildlife such as squirrels and birds of prey that feed on rodents and smaller birds. The Council hereby supports the US EPA proposed interim determinations: (1) classifying all SGARs as restricted use pesticides so as to ban their retail sales directly to consumers and limiting their use to only licensed pest control professionals, and (2) adding more restrictive handling and use protocols for professionals to follow. Furthermore the Council supports proposed State Legislation that will require electronic tracking of SGAR use and expands the list of institutions required to use Integrated Pest Management practices to include universities. The Council directs the Council President and City Council clerk to take actions necessary to send a copy of this resolution along with the attached photos to the US EPA and to forwatabledPass Action details Not available
