Resolve: That the City of Malden City Council establish "The Malden Youth Council" Ad Hoc Committee with three (3) City Councillors as voting members assigned by the Council President; to provide an opportunity for the youth of Malden and foster civic engagement and an opportunity to be involved and participate in local government to acquire a greater knowledge of and appreciation for local government through active participation in the system.

PURPOSE and CONTENT;
To provide a space for the youth of Malden to foster civic engagement and an
opportunity to be involved and participate in local government and acquire a
greater knowledge of the role of our elected officials.
To assist the City Council in addressing the needs of youth, their problems and
goals within city government.
To serve and give a voice to all the youth of Malden by:
1. informing the Malden City Council of their challenges in government
and to help them better work in collaboration with local government.
2. helping to instill a feeling of positive self-worth and esteem, teaching
respect for the rights of others and promoting government.
3. the Youth Council shall consist of eight (8) Malden youth residents
confirmed by the City Council representing and with emphasis of our
diverse cross-section of the city.
The City Council shall be responsible for the organization of this new committee
by announcing this opportunity in all our local papers and social media venues.
The review process will begin with the Appointments and Personnel Committee
offering interviews with recommendations to the Council floor for final
acceptance.
As a new body, the newly appointed members shall be responsible for
appointing the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Youth Council.
The Youth Council shall present to the Council their goals, agenda, and mission
once a month to the City Council.
All members shall be between the ages of 14-18 except that the Chairperson
shall be at least 16 years old.
